UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – James Madison track & field saw two Dukes record top-10 program marks and
Kaia Putman notch two event victories at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge on Saturday afternoon inside Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
In the weight throw,
Jaiden Martellucci registered a career-best mark of 15.68m (51-5.5), placing her sixth in program history. Meanwhile, teammate
Ryann Bennett's effort of 14.73m (48-4) is good for 10th in the JMU record book in the same event.
Kaia Putman captured wins in the 60-meter dash (7.54) and 200-meter dash (24.55), recording season-best times in both races.
How It Happened
- Jordyn Henderson placed second in the 60-meter hurdles final in 8.42. The senior ran a season-best 8.39 in the first round of the event.
- Freshman Kylie Brooks finished runner-up in the 3,000-meter competition with a career-best time of 9:53.45 – the fastest time in the event by any Duke this season.
- Alayna Gifford registered a personal best of 2:13.86 for bronze in the 800-meter race.
- Holly Mpassy took second in the 400-meter dash (56.02), while Christine Fitzgerald came in fourth with a 57.10 PR.
- Izzy Greene finished the mile in a career-best 5:08.82.
- The quartet of Kam'Dyn Thomas, Fitzgerald, Darian Harris and Mpassy turned in a season-best time of 3:50.08 for second in the 4x400-meter relay.
- Freshman Madison Greene leaped a career-best 11.61m (38-1.25) to round out the top five.
