GREENWOOD, Ind. – Six James Madison student-athletes across three sport programs were recognized on the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team in field hockey's
Alice Roeper and
Cassidy Strittmatter, lacrosse's
Maggie Clark,
Savannah Derey and
Carolyn Thistlewaite and women's golf's
Tatum Walsh.
This is the second career CSC academic accolade for both Strittmatter and Clark, who both earned the same recognition in 2024.
Roeper, a media arts and design major, was a 2024 NFHCA All-South Region First Team member while also being voted Mid-American Conference Player of the Year. She led the Dukes with 15 goals, 35 total points and five game-winning goals. She ranked 14th nationally in both goals per game (0.79) and points per game (1.84).
Strittmatter, who graduated with a degree in marketing, was a Second Team All-South Region selection and First Team All-MAC honoree. A three and a half year starter, she scored 10 goals and four assists for 24 points, ranking second in both goals and points.
Clark, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and a master's degree in education, was a two-year starter and earned Second Team All-American Athletic Conference midfielder in 2025. In her senior season, she scored 13 goals with five assists for 18 points while adding 15 ground balls and six caused turnovers.
Derey, who graduated with a degree in business management, was a First Team All-AAC attacker to round out her career. She scored 54 goals and added six assists for 60 points. Derey, who was second for JMU in goals and points, recorded 12 hat tricks in 2025 and had a pair of six-goal performances.
Thistlewaite, who graduated from JMU with a degree in sport and recreation management, was a four-year starter for the Dukes. She was named a Second Team All-AAC defender in 2025 after causing 14 turnovers and collecting 26 ground balls.
Walsh, who graduated with a degree in sport and recreation management, played in all 29 rounds of her senior year, posting a 76.69 stroke average. She recorded a season-best, 54-hole score of 216 (E) at the Cardinal Cup during the fall of 2024 and tied for the team lead with four par or better rounds for the year.
In order to be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team, student-athletes must possess at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average, be a sophomore or older and have competed in a specific percentage of events during their respective seasons.
