JONESBORO, Ark. – Arkansas State scored six runs across the seventh and eighth innings to complete a six-run comeback to knock off James Madison baseball, 11-9, on Friday night at Tomlinson Stadium.

The Dukes fell for a fifth straight game, dropping their record to 11-13 overall and 3-4 in Sun Belt Conference action. The Red Wolves improved to 17-8 (4-3 Sun Belt).

A trio of Dukes recorded multiple hits, led by redshirt sophomore Clay Thompson who went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI.

How It Happened
First Inning
Junior Kyle Langley led off the game with a single and touched home plate for the first run of the game five pitches later when classmate Josiah Seguin doubled him in. Seguin then made it 2-0 in favor of JMU by scoring on a passed ball.

Second Inning
Just like the first inning, JMU scored two batters in as senior Wyatt Campbell doubled in Thompson who led off with a single. Campbell would come around later in the inning for a 4-0 lead on a single from Langley.

Arkansas State cut the deficit in half with a two-run homer from Derek Martinez.

Third Inning
Thompson pushed the JMU lead back to four runs with his first homer of the season, a two-run shot to center field.

Fifth Inning
A fielding error with runners in scoring position and a double steal by Thompson and senior Jack Guerrero made it 8-2 for the Dukes.

Cason Campbell hit a three-run homer to get the Red Wolves within three.

Sixth Inning
After leading off the inning with a double, junior Ben Barrow put another run on the board for JMU by scoring on a passed ball.

Seventh Inning
A two-run homer off the bat of Aidan Houseworth brought the Red Wolves within two runs.

Eighth Inning
ASU hit two homers as part of a four-run inning, the first to tie the game at nine and the second to take an 11-9 lead.
