At JMU: Third-year Duke and the probable starter at center… took advantage of a chance to a assume a starter’s role with a good spring practice period, said OL coach Curt Newsome… plays extremely hard and has become more effective with added size, Newsome said… reserve OL in 2004 in his first year of JMU eligibility and was with the Dukes in 2003 while fulfilling transfer requirements.
Before JMU: Enrolled at Washington & Lee before transferring to JMU… all-state at Fayetteville High School where he was on a state semifinalist team as a junior and played in the state all-star game as a senior… set a team record with 33 straight starts… as a senior was all-league, all-area, all-state and all-tri-state… academic all-league and a National Honor Society member.
Personal: Russell Anderson Braswell… born Nov. 11, 1982… accounting major… father played baseball at North Carolina and mother played field hockey at UNC Greensboro.
