Rick Reardon serves at the assistant equipment manager for the baseball and softball teams. As part of his duties, he ensures that both teams are properly equipped not only on game days but throughout their season. Additionally, Reardon is responsible for the logos and tags that are pressed on to both practice and gameday apparel. Overall, he makes sure both teams are not only prepared but also look the part of a JMU athlete.
Reardon is no stranger to JMU Athletics. From 2012-2014 he served as the graduate assistant equipment manager for the men’s and women’s basketball teams. He was responsible for the independent operation of the basketball equipment rooms as well as daily equipment coordination for all Olympic sports. Reardon spent gamedays setting up the locker rooms, overseeing the game and maintaining records for the student athletes. Prior to this position, he was the recruiting and football intern for the 2011-2013 seasons. Executing gameday and recruiting events, welcoming recruits and managing JMU Football Twitter and Facebook accounts were a few of his responsibilities while interning.
Before joining the JMU equipment team, Reardon completed a summer internship with the Rockingham County Recreation Department. In this role he maintained various soccer, softball and football fields, prepared facilities for events, worked with customer relations and delivered supplies to many summer playgrounds. His most important accomplishment while with the recreation department was revising the football handbook and including a new chapter on how to diagnose concussions and the proper safety measures to be taken.
Reardon is a 2014 graduate of James Madison with his Bachelor of Science in sport and recreation management and a Master of Science in sports and recreation leadership. While working towards his education he volunteered as a student equipment manager for the men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, women’s lacrosse, swimming and diving, cross country, track and field, field hockey and volleyball teams.
As a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association, Reardon currently resides in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
