Kate Bruning joined the JMU staff in 2022 and currently provides day-to-day support and care for the women’s basketball team.
Bruning came to the Dukes after serving as the associate athletics director for sports medicine at Texas A&M Commerce University for nearly two years. Prior to Texas A&M Commerce, Bruning was an assistant athletic trainer at Ashland University from December 2014 through June 2020, providing primary medical coverage for women’s basketball, football, and softball.
She also worked as a graduate assistant at Morehead State University, working as the primary athletic trainer for women’s soccer, which reached the NCAA Tournament in 2013.
