WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES NINTH AT SPIDER INVITATIONAL

RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 18, 2006 ? The James Madison University women's golf team finished ninth out of twelve schools competing in the Spider Invitational on Oct. 16-17. The Dukes shot 341-353-694 on the par 72, 6,038 yard course.
Campbell University won the event with a 316-307-623 and Belen Diaz Cisneros of Campbell carded the best individual score 77-74-151.
Senior captain Diana Meza (Cali, Columbia/Goochland (Va.)) finished tied for eighth place out of sixty-nine competitors shooting a 75-85-160. Meza now has two top ten finishes in the three tournaments she has played in this fall.
Freshman Mary Chamberlain (Dennis, Mass./Suffield Academy) shot an 87-89-176 with senior Catelyn Eddy (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic) right behind her shooting an 87-90-177.
Freshman Mary Stevens (Acton, Mass./Heritage Academy) played in her first tournament and carded a 92-89-181.
Red-shirt sophomore Ashley Mantha (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) rounded out the Dukes shooting a 95-94-189.
The women's golf team wraps up the fall season at the Ross Resorts Invitational in Southern Pines, N.C. on Oct. 30-31.
