Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 24, 2008 -- Two goals by James Madison junior Corky Julien (Williamstown, Ontario/Char-Lan District) lifted the Dukes to a 2-1 women's soccer win over Northeasternin Colonial Athletic Association action Friday evening at the JMU Soccer Complex.
The Dukes improved to 11-4-2 overall and 7-2 in the CAA.Northeastern's overall record stands at 8-8-1, and its CAA record is 4-5-0.
JMU is tied for second in the league standings with William and Mary, which beat George Mason 1-0 Friday night.Hofstra, which plays at JMU Sunday, remains atop the league standings with a 7-1-1 record.Old Dominion, which had shared the top spot with Hofstra, dropped to fourth after losing 3-2 at Towson Friday afternoon.
Julien scored the Dukes' first two goals, each coming midway through each half.Then Northeastern junior Liza Rebello (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) got the Huskies on the scoreboard with 14:35 to play, and Northeastern had a couple of near misses in the final 10 minutes as JMU eked out the win.
