JMU Ties for Second at CAA Men's Golf Championship

SOUTHPORT, N.C. - The James Madison men's golf team tied for second at the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship, April 24-16. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was played at The Founders Club at St. James Plantation (Par 72 - 6,784 yards) in Southport, N.C.
The Dukes shot a 7-over 295 and finished in tie for runner-up with William & Mary at 29-over 893. College of Charleston led from start to finish, shooting a final round 1-under 287 to win the title at 9-over 873, earning the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals. UNCW was fourth at 31-over 985, with Elon in fifth at 32-over 896.
Senior Jon Weiss was the top performing JMU player in eighth place at 5-over 221 following a final round 2-over 74. Sophomore Ryan Cole tied for ninth at 6-over 222 with a team-best 1-under 71 in the last round. Sophomore Poom Pattaropong tied for 20th at 11-over 227, while freshman Jack Floydd and senior Trey Smith tied for 28th at 14-over 230.
College of Charleston's John Jonas led three Cougars at the top of leaderboard, finishing at 1-under 215 to earn medalist honors. Fellow CofC players Zach Munroe and Josh Lorenzetti tied for runner-up at 2-over 218. Â
