René Bergendi took home a second-place finish to lead James Madison men's golf to a fourth-place team finish at the Testudo Cup.
Bergendi shot 5-under par (211, 72-69-70), tallying a career-best over 54 holes and earning a career-high finish slot. This is the second time in his collegiate career he has finished in the top five of a tournament.Â
The Dukes closed 13-over overall after going 1-under as a team in round three, moving up two spots to claim fourth place for the tournament (877, 286-276-282). This marks the best team finish since a fourth-place finish at the 2025 JT Poston Invitational.
Blake Hartman, competing as an individual, tied for 12th place to earn his best collegiate finish through three tournaments. He shot a 2-over 218 (73-71-74), including 11 birdies.
JMU returns to the golf course Oct. 19-20 for the Qubein Cup, hosted by High Point University. HPU finished just one spot ahead of the Dukes at this week's Testudo Cup (875, 301-289-287).
