LORTON, Va. – James Madison men's golf climbed two spots in the final round of the Patriot Intercollegiate, earning a second-place finish out of 17 teams and 100 golfers. JMU shot 281 in the final round to record an 8-over par 860 for the tournament. This marks the third tournament of the fall for the Dukes, and they have placed in the top two at all three events.
Junior
Ryan Cole (74-72-68) led the team tying for seventh, shooting a 3-under par 68 to climb 11 spots over the final round, as he carded a 214 for the 54-hole tournament.

Poom Pattaropong (75-72-69) tied for 13th with sophomore
Jack Floydd (72-72-72), each recording 216 strokes. Pattaropong shot a 2-under par 69 to improve nine spots over the final 18 holes. Freshman
Alex Henderson (72-74-72) shot a one-over par 72 to close out the tournament with 218 strokes in 20th place, followed by redshirt freshman
Shota Ozaki (78-70-760 who tied for 39th with a 5-over par 76 with 224 strokes total.
Chris Kapsak (74-75-74 – 223) and
Connor Walters (74-78-79 – 231) both played as individuals,tying for 33rd and 61st, respectively.
The Dukes trailed first-place finisher West Florida by 13 strokes on the final team leaderboard.

Consecutive Top-FinishesRyan Cole has finished in the top-10 in all three of the fall tournaments for the Dukes. He finished second at Golfweek, 10th at VCU and tied for seventh at the Patriot Intercollegiate. Heading into the final two tournaments of the fall, Cole has 12 career top-15 finishes.
Looking AheadJMU heads to Rockville, Md., to compete in the Maryland Terrapin Invitational, held Oct. 19-20 at the Woodmont Country Club.
