HAYESVILLE, N.C. - The James Madison women's golf team dropped five strokes off its second-round score on Tuesday evening to take home third place at the Bill Berg Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina at the par-72, 5,876-yard Ridges Country Club.

JMU fired a 16-over 304 in Tuesday's final round, closing the week at with a score of 911, just two strokes behind second-place host Western Carolina. Eastern Kentucky continued its stellar play, taking home first-place honors at the 12-team tournament with a final score of 25-over 889 across three rounds.

Freshman
Lauren Comegys led the Dukes on the final day, shooting a career-low 1-over 73 to propel herself into a tie for 27th among the 66-golfer field. The round included three birdies, including a pair back-to-back on her 15th and 16th holes of the afternoon.

Junior
Laura Gomez-Ruiz closed the week with her first top-10 of the season, finishing tied for seventh at 9-over 225 (70-72-83), while junior
Maddisen Cox carded a 4-over 76 to close a consistent week tied for 15th at 228 (77-75-76).

Freshman
Morgan Cox dropped six strokes from her second-round score with a 3-over 75 that saw her tie for 19th at 231 and sophomore
Katie Turk closed the JMU scoring with an 8-over 80, putting her in a tie for 55th at 248.

Playing as individuals, junior
Gabrielle Weiss (248) and freshman
Joanna Keck (290) finished tied for 55th and 66th, respectively.
