JMU enters the CAA Championship as the No. 4 seed and opened play Wednesday afternoon with a 3-2 comeback win over Northeastern. The Dukes face top-seeded UNCW on Thursday.
The No. 4 seed is the highest for JMU since it won the title back in 2011.
Five Dukes were honored on the All-CAA teams, highlighted by Ky Parrot being named to the All-CAA First Team. Chad Carroll was tabbed to the Second Team while Brett Johnson and Zach Tondi garnered Third Team honors. Additionally, Ben Garner was picked to the All-Academic Team.
Following JMU's series sweep to close the regular season, Bradley McKay was named CAA Player of the Week while Colton Harlow was voted Pitcher of the Week. The Dukes swept Hofstra to finish CAA play with a 13-11 record to clinch the No. 4 seed and their first conference winning record in five years.

Track & Field at NCAA East Preliminary

JMU will send four track & field student-athletes to the NCAA East Preliminary, which takes place on the campus of the University of North Florida.
Thrower Amber Monroe will represent the Dukes in a pair of events (discus, shot put), while distance runners Kathleen Stewart (10,000), Carol Strock (1,500) and Olivia Viparina (3,000 steeplechase) will each compete in one race.
JMU's four student-athletes are the most the program has ever sent to the NCAA East Preliminary.
The NCAA will send 12 competitors in each race to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Tournament Notes

Ryan Cole, who ranks sixth in the nation with an average round score of 70.18, will represent JMU as one of six individuals competing at the National Championships. He is the top-seeded individual.
There will be three rounds of stroke play after which the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will move on. A final 18-hole round on Monday will determine the individual national champion.
College of Charleston's Will Rainey will join Cole as the other representative of the CAA and the two are paired together for the first and second rounds.
