BLACKSBURG, Va. – James Madison women's tennis started the spring slate with a 7-0 victory against Radford on Thursday afternoon.
The Dukes (1-0) rolled to the win over the Highlanders (0-2), beginning with a clean sweep of doubles before winning at all six singles positions in two sets.
Sophomore Emma Petersen continued her four-match win streak from the fall in singles play with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 3 over Natalie Sayer. Senior Rachel Nelson's three-match win streak also carried over from the fall, extended by a 7-5, 6-1 win over Meili Martin at No. 2 singles.
Senior Timea Guibe tied junior Dylan Owens for a team-leading ninth singles victory on the entire season, taking down Drousile Dzeubou in straight 6-4 sets at the No. 1 position. Sophomore Abby Amos played in her first singles match of the year, coming in at the No. 6 position and dispatching Lilly Ellick 6-1, 6-0.
