#15 JMU Falls 2-1 to #19 William & Mary in CAA Semifinals

NEWARK, Del. – Despite a pair of penalty corners with time expired, No. 15 James Madison field hockey was unable to convert and the Dukes (12-6) fell to third-seeded No. 19 William & Mary in the Colonial Athletic Association tournament semifinals.

Over the final 10 minutes of action, JMU had the final three shot attempts and earned five corner attempts. Junior Miranda Rigg scored the lone JMU goal of the day, the 37th of her career.

Junior Miranda Rigg moved into a tie for 13th all-time in JMU career goals (37) with her first-half tally. She equals Melissa Stefaniak ('08).

Senior Sara Kraeutler appeared in her 60th game, playing the full 70 minutes in the cage. She moved into fourth all-time in career minutes, now at 3,834.

- Junior Miranda Rigg scored in the eighth minute after she made the midfield steal & running it to the end line for a quick slot in the opposite corner!
- William & Mary's Jenny McCann deflected in the first Tribe score at the post with 7:32 left in the first half, tying the score at 1-1.
- The Tribe's Woodard Hooper tipped in a corner pass over Sara Kraeutler's shoulder in the 50th minute of action to take the 2-1 lead.
