BOSTON – James Madison track & field scored 40 points on the final day of competition to take fourth at the ECAC Indoor Championships inside the Boston University Track Center on Sunday.
The Dukes had nine different entries record scoring marks to propel them up the leaderboard after finishing Saturday in 17th place. Senior
Carol Strock led the way for JMU, winning the mile (10 points) with a time of 4:48.27. Senior
Tessa Mundell took sixth (three points) in the event, finishing in 4:55.33.
The team of juniors
Erica Gray and
Madeleine McCarty, Mundell and Strock took fifth (four points) in the 4x800 relay with a time of 8:58.78. The mark is the fourth-fastest time in JMU history.
The 60-meter dash finals were full of Dukes, with freshman
Alexys Taylor (7.59 seconds) finishing third (six points), senior
Kennedy King (7.64 seconds) taking sixth (three points) and sophomore
Meredith Willis (7.65 seconds) placing seventh (two points). Willis also scored in the 200-meter dash, taking fourth place (five points) with a time of 24.49 seconds.
JMU's scoring was rounded out by sophomore
Erica Jackson taking fourth (five points) in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:52.08 and junior
Tyrah Burrow taking seventh (two points) in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 55.84 seconds.
Albany took home the team championship with 62 points, followed by Liberty's 54 points and Monmouth's 48.
BEATING THE CAA
JMU finished ahead of five Colonial Athletic Association teams in the final team standings. William & Mary placed eighth with 28 points, Elon was ninth with 23, Towson was 12th with 21, Northeastern was 13th with 20 and Delaware was 18th with 17.

"Overall, we had a solid showing as a team. We were able to make the most of our scoring opportunities and really came on strong as a team today. It was a good culmination of our indoor season and now we look to use this meet as a springboard into our outdoor campaign."
