PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – James Madison men's tennis closed its Colonial Athletic Association regular season with a 6-1 triumph at Drexel on Saturday afternoon.
The Dukes (13-8, 3-1 CAA) used a 2-1 edge in doubles to secure the opening point before taking wins in all five completed singles matches, despite falling behind with first set losses in four of the five decisions. The lone Dragons (13-7, 2-1 CAA) point came at No. 4 singles via retirement.
Freshman Tate Steinoursecured his eighth consecutive singles win with a three-set victory at No. 6 over Daniil Ginsburg. Steinour is a team-leading 14-4 in duals this spring.
Senior Sebastian Salinas clinched match point for the Dukes when he came back to sink Sinan Orhon 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
JMU has clinched a winning record in 2016-17. The Dukes' 13 team victories are the most since they went 15-10 during the 2009-10 season.
