ORLANDO, Fla. – James Madison men's tennis won a 'Battle of the Dukes' on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Duquesne 4-3. JMU picked up their second-straight win on its spring break trip to improve to 9-2 on the season.
The Dukes dominated doubles action, as senior
Theophile Lanthiez and sophomore
Paul Mendoza claimed a 6-1 win in the No.1 spot. Freshman
Alvaro Arce and junior
Pierre Kohler clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 victory.
Moving into singles action, sophomore
Damon Roberts commanded Duquesne's Chris Corrao in straight set at the No. 3 spot (6-0, 6-2), giving JMU the early 2-0 lead. Lanthiez defeated Andrew Ong in two sets (6-3,6-1) at No. 6 to make it a 3-0 advantage, and Arce downed Drew Adkins at No. 2 singles in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) to secure the team victory.
