HARRISONBURG, Va. – Senior finance majors Erica Royal and Morgan Cox have been selected to attend the Athlete Leadership Connection (ALC), hosted by the Women's Sports Foundation (WSF) at the Morgan Stanley Headquarters in New York on October 15, 2019.Â
Â
The one-day ALC conference is an annual event established by the WSF that brings together industry leaders, sports experts and collegiate female athletes. The mission is to impact, cultivate and inspire the next generation of female athletes as leaders both on and off the playing field. Â
Â
Attendees will attend interactive workshops in the morning, including the "Extreme YOU" workshop led by Sarah Robb O'Hagan in which athletes will identify their competitive advantage and developing behaviors that will bring out their highest potential. During the lunch break, participants will listen to US Soccer champion, Julie Foudy, interview the legendary Billie Jean King.Â
Â
The afternoon consists of breakout sessions, including a special session on job search and interview skills led by the VP and HR Director of the New York Mets, and a panel about mental health. Student-athletes will attend networking sessions to grow their network and strength connections with more than 40 professionals from communications, marketing, financial services, education, sports business, STEM, coaching and athletic administration.Â
Â
A networking cocktail hour wraps up the night where participants have the chance to make connections with companies such as the New York Mets, Morgan Stanley, Bleacher Report, NBC Sports, Major League Baseball and ESPN.Â
