In accordance with the guidelines for health and safety precautions mandated by Virginia Executive Order 67, attendance at home JMU basketball games in the Atlantic Union Bank Center is currently limited to 250 fans.
Â
The majority of ticket allotment is being provided to the
families and guests of the participating student-athletes, coaches and staff. This number does not include the participating student-athletes, coaches and game day staff members who are essential for the operation of the event. In turn, this has left
a limited number of tickets (approximately 50 per game) available to Duke Club members for the games prior to the start of the Spring academic semester on Jan. 19.
Â
Upon the return of the student body in January, we anticipate including the JMU Pep Band and spirit squads on game day in order to enhance the atmosphere and include more JMU students. This will impact the available number of tickets and, therefore, we do not anticipate tickets being offered to Duke Club members for the games after January 17. If changes to capacity occur during the season, JMU Athletics will provide updates on opportunities to access tickets.
Â
JMU Athletics has received several questions regarding the current ticketing process for 2020-21 and wanted to clarify many of those answers here:
Â
Who is getting access to request tickets for the Maryland game?
Access to request tickets for the JMU vs. Maryland game on Saturday, December 5 was only provided to the top 50 Duke Club donors based on priority point rank. With such a limited number of tickets available, it is anticipated that only 15 accounts will gain access to tickets (max 4 per account). Requests are not guaranteed and will be filled in priority point order following the deadline (Thursday, Dec. 3 at noon).
How can I get tickets to a future game?
Duke Club members will receive the opportunity to request tickets for upcoming games based on schedule and capacity. The next opportunity to request tickets will include only the women's basketball games on December 6 and 9 has been sent to current Duke Club members with the priority deadline to request being December 3 at 5 p.m. A second opportunity to request tickets for the six men's and women's CAA games to be played between January 3 and January 17 will be offered on December 10 with the priority deadline to request being December 16 at 5 p.m. Requests are not guaranteed and will be filled in priority point order following the respective priority deadlines.
Â
How will I know if I received tickets?
The Athletic Ticket Office will send notifications to donors following the respective priority deadline on whether or not requests can be filled. If granted tickets, payment for tickets will be coordinated by the Ticket Office and tickets will be sent via email for delivery to your mobile device. Once granted tickets and payment is completed, orders are not refundable.
Â
How many tickets could I order and how many games?
Orders will be limited to a maximum of 4 tickets per account and will cost $12 for women's basketball and $20 for men's basketball games, with the exception of Saturday's Maryland game. Access to the number of games granted may be limited based on demand and availability.
Â
Where will tickets be assigned and what precautions are in place for COVID-19?
Due to Covid-19 spacing requirements, seats will be placed in blocks of 2, 3, and 4 with at least 6 feet of separation from other groups. Exact seat locations may vary game to game based on number of requests. No more than two groups will be seated in a row to allow for one way ingress and egress. All seating will be reserved. Seating requests will not be accepted and once assigned, seats cannot be relocated.
Â
Fans will not be permitted to enter the Atlantic Union Bank Center if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. Face coverings and masks are required to be worn at all times, except when actively eating or drinking in seats.
Â
How were tickets assigned for the first few games?
Ticket access for the first block of non-conference games - through November 30 - was offered in the order below, based on Duke Club priority rank within each group.
- Duke Club donors who made a major gift of $25,000 or more to the Atlantic Union Bank Center project
- Current Duke Club donors and basketball season ticket holders
Â
Due to the uncertainty of capacity limits, changes in opponents and the opening of the new facility, tickets were not offered to the second group above until November 23. Direct calls were made to donors in priority order offering this opportunity. With the short turnaround and overlap of the Thanksgiving holiday, many donors could not attend and tickets were granted further down the Duke Club priority list for these games than will be possible for the remainder of the season. A limited number of tickets not used by the groups above were offered to JMU Athletics staff on the day prior to the game.
Â
Why did someone with lower priority than me get access to tickets for the early games?
As discussed above, tickets were not offered to current Duke Club members and season ticket holders until November 23 and direct calls were made to donors in priority order. Beyond that, it is possible that tickets were purchased by a donor with a qualifying rank and given to someone else.
Â
Can JMU Students get tickets?
Currently JMU Students cannot access tickets for the home games. Upon the start of spring semester, accommodations will be made to provide access for JMU students.
