ASHLAND, Va. – Six James Madison student-athletes were honored for academic excellence during the 2019-20 school year, being named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Academic All-State Team, the organization announced Thursday.

The group of Dukes was comprised of swimming and diving junior Faith Anderson and senior Bonnie Zhang, field hockey senior Alicia Cooperman, women's golf senior Morgan Cox and sophomore Kate Owens and softball junior Sara Jubas.

A total of 222 student-athletes from 37Â colleges and universities from the Commonwealth of Virginia were recognized on the Academic All-State Team. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average and be a sophomore or higher.
