- James Madison plays the second of back-to-back home games on Tuesday, welcoming Northeastern to Harrisonburg on Tuesday.
- Following a nearly month-long layoff due to COVID-19 protocols, the Dukes to Hofstra in an 87-80 battle at the Atlantic Union Bank Center on Sunday. This was the first home loss of the season for JMU, who had previously been 6-0 in Harrisonburg. Despite Sunday's defeat, the Dukes hold a 16-5 home record since opening the facility in 2020.
- Redshirt junior Vado Morse set a season high with 24 points against Hofstra and leads JMU with 11.8 points per game. Graduate transfer Takal Molson averages 11.6, and has scored in double figures in seven of his last 10 contests.
- The Dukes are averaging 77.0 points per game, and are shooting 47.7% from the field. JMU has shot 50% or better in three of their last four games. The Dukes also shot 50% from three against Hofstra (13-for-26), the best percentage in the Mark Byington era.
- Among players with at least 50 field goal attempts, four Dukes - graduate transfer Alonzo Sule (.682), redshirt freshman Justin Amadi (.603), redshirt freshman Terell Strickland (.569), and redshirt junior Jalen Hodge (.509) - are all shooting at least 50% from the field. Sule's current percentage ranks second all-time for season field goal percentage, only behind Amadi's .695 clip in 2020-21. Hodge's field goal percentage has been helping by an impressive .500 mark from three (18-for-36).
- The trio of Sule, Amadi and Molson each average at least five rebounds per game and have combined for 14 of JMU's 24 blocks.
- JMU's 10.08 steals/game leads the league and ranks 13th in the NCAA. Seven different Dukes have at least 10 on the season, while Morse leads the Dukes with 19 on his own (1.6/game).
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- After starting 6-4 on the season, Northeastern has lost four in a row entering Tuesday and has not won since Dec. 7 against UMass. Northeastern lost to Towson on Jan. 9 by three (67-70), after losing to William & Mary by one (70-71) on Dec. 31.
- The Huskies are led on offense by redshirt senior Shaquille Walters who averages 12.9 points, though Walters has not played in a game since Dec. 12. Sophomore Jahmyl Telfort has averaged 12.4 points, leading the Huskies by far in field goal attempts with 158
- Redshirt junior Chris Doherty ranks second in the league and 24th in the NCAA with 9.5 rebounds per game (133 total).
SERIES HISTORY
- Northeastern leads the overall series by a 23-8 margin, though JMU and NU split a pair of games in Boston last season, with Northeastern taking the opener 72-63 on Jan. 23, 2021, before JMU won the next day, 79-72.
- The Dukes' win last season snapped a seven-game losing streak against Northeastern. JMU last won at home against the Huskies on Feb. 4, 2017, and are looking to snap a three-game losing streak at home against NU.
