QUICK HITS
- James Madison will play its final road game of the regular season at Towson on Wednesday, closing out a four-game road stretch.
- The Dukes suffered a tough defeat at UNCW on Saturday, dropping a 78-77 overtime heartbreaker to the first-place Seahawks. JMU led for most of the game before UNCW tied things late in regulation. In overtime, the Dukes pulled ahead with 7.3 seconds to play from a clutch bucket from Charles Falden, but a foul call on the ensuing possession allowed UNCW to make the winning free throws.
- Redshirt junior Vado Morse leads JMU on offense with 15.9 points per game this season, which ranks second in the league. Morse is averaging 19.5 points per game in league play, and has eclipsed 15 points in 15 of 16 conference tilts, including the last 12 games.
- With his 17 points on Thursday, Morse became the first Duke to score 15 or more in 12 straight since Matt Lewis did so 12 straight times in 2019-20. He has also made at least three three-pointers in every conference game but two this season.
- James Madison ranks third in the league with a 46.8% field goal percentage so far this season. Among players with at least 50 field goal attempts, a pair of active Dukes - redshirt freshman Justin Amadi (.645) and graduate transfer Alonzo Sule (.615) are shooting over 60% from the field. The pair have combined to shoot 22-for-30 (.733) in the last two games.
- After missing a lengthy stretch due to injury, redshirt freshman Tyree Ihenacho has made strong contributions since returning to action. Ihenacho has grabbed at least five rebounds in every game since returning from injury.
- After giving up at least 80 regulation points in six of their first eight conference contests, the Dukes have held seven of their last eight opponents below the 80-point mark in regulation.
- The Dukes recorded a season-high five blocks on Saturday. Sule had two of the five, and leads JMU with 14 on the season.
- JMU has turned the ball over 12 or fewer times in each of their last five games.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- Towson sits half a game off the conference lead with a 12-3 league mark, and enters Wednesday on a four-game winning streak.
- The Tigers' 21 wins are already the second-most in the Pat Skerry era.
- Towson is led by redshirt junior Nicolas Timberlake and senior Cam Holden, who average 14.0 and 13.8 points, respectively.
- Junior Charles Thompson ranks second in the conference and tied for 57th in the country with 46 blocks on the season.
SERIES HISTORY
- JMU leads the 56 meetings between the two sides by a 37-19 margin after winning both games last season.
- In last year's matchup at SECU Arena, the Dukes took an 81-72 victory behind 30 points from Matt Lewis, along with double-figure scoring from three current Dukes - Morse (18), Amadi (11), and Jalen Hodge (10).
