OPELIKA, Ala. - The James Madison men's golf team closed out play at the Tiger Invitational by Jason Dufner on Monday evening, tying for 11th place on the par-72, 7,289-yard RTJ Grand National course.
The event, originally scheduled for three days and shortened to two due to expected inclement weather, saw the Dukes finish tied for 11th out of 16 teams, posting 5-over 880 on the week to finish even with Florida Atlantic, just three shots out of the top 10.
Seniors
Ignacio Montero (73-74-71) and
Neal Shipley (71-69-78) led the way for the Dukes, tying for 25th at 218 (+2).
Freshman
Daniel Cheng (76-74-72) continued his solid spring, improving by two shots each round on his way to a tie for 46th at 222 (+6), while junior
Nick Schlickenrieder (74-77-72) was just a stroke behind in a tie for 56th.
Freshman
Sigurður Blumenstein closed out the JMU scoring in 85th place at 237.

The Dukes will be back on the course in just a week, as they travel to The Falls Club in Lake Worth, Fla. to take part in the Southern Intercollegiate on March 14-15. GolfStat will provide live results of the event.
