Dukes Finish Runner-Up at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – James Madison track & field wrapped up a successful outdoor opener with a second-place team finish with 111.5 points at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational Saturday afternoon at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
How It Happened Track Events
The Dukes kicked off the day with 19 points in the women's 3000m race, led by senior Maddy Hesler (2nd - 10:16.61), followed by junior McKenzi Watkins (4th – 10:39.83) and freshman Faithe Ketchum (5th – 10:47.00).
In the 400m hurdles, sophomore Sofia Lavreshina took fourth with a time of 1:03.34.
Field Events
Senior Jenae Bowers picked up two points in the shot put, taking seventh with an effort of 12.14m.
The Dukes went 5-6 in the High Jump A Flight with senior Alex Kwasnik (1.61m) and Bethany Biggi (1.58m). Junior Paige Miller finished runner-up in the B Flight at 1.58m.
Relay Events
The 4x100-meter relay crew of sophomore Kaia Putman, freshman Asia Powell, sophomore Jordyn Henderson, and sophomore Virginia Keys crossed the finish line in 47.18. Duke came in first with a time of 46.16.
