CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – #12 Virginia claimed a pair of doubles wins and captured all six singles matches in straight sets to upend James Madison, 7-0, in non-conference women's tennis action Thursday evening at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
The Cavaliers improved to 2-0 this spring, while the Dukes fell to 0-1.
It's the fourth straight win for Virginia against JMU and its eighth over the past nine meetings.

Doubles Play
- UVA gained the early advantage on court three, as Meggie Navarro and Sara Ziodato took a 6-3 win from Hayley Glen and Reka Matko.
- The Cavaliers clinched the doubles point on court two, where the 48th-ranked tandem of Hibah Shaikh and Natasha Subhash claimed a 6-2 victory against Daria Munteanu and Ines Oliveira.
- The final bout between JMU's #26 team of Cate Broerman and Hope Moulin and UVA's Elaine Chervinsky and Melodie Collard went unfinished on court one with the Cavs' duo up 5-3.
Singles Play
- UVA controlled the pace early on in singles, grabbing first sets on all six courts.
- Virginia doubled its lead with a convincing win on court five, as Collard, ranked 82nd nationally, downed Matko, 6-1, 6-0.
- Over on court three, the Cavaliers took a 3-0 match lead when Subhash defeated Moulin in straight sets, at 6-2, 6-1.
- Shaikh, who ranks 46th in Division I, clinched the match for the 'Hoos, earning a 6-3, 6-1 win versus Munteanu on court two.
- #88 Ziodato claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win on court four against Oliveira before #86 Annabelle Xu registered a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Broerman on court one.
- Blanca Pica Navarro turned in the final result of the evening on court six, fending off Sara Sadadinovic in the first set and dropping just one game in the second for a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
