UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – James Madison track & field saw standout performances from hurdler
Jordyn Henderson and distance runner
Miranda Stanhope on the first day of the Penn State National Open Friday night.
Henderson finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles finals with a time of 8.47. In the semifinals, the junior recorded a season-best time of 8.42, just shy of her school record of 8.39 set last year at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships. Guelph's Hailey Reid won the competition in 8.40.
Stanhope finished the 5,000-meter race in 17:18.19 for fourth. The performance was her third top-five placement and the third different event she's raced in of the indoor season. Previously, the senior ran in the mile (2nd – 5:14.57) and 3,000-meter race (2nd – 10:20.22) at the Oceanfront Invitational (Jan. 20).
