LAFAYETTE, La. – No. 24 Louisiana used two big innings and limited James Madison softball to three hits in a 7-1 win over the Dukes on Saturday afternoon at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.

The Cajuns improved to 26-13 and 11-0 in league play on seven runs and 11 hits, winning their 85th consecutive Sun Belt Conference series. The Dukes dropped to 21-15 and 5-6 in league games on three hits and one run.

Bella Henzler, Lexi Rogers, and
Payton List were the only JMU players to register hits in the contest, as Louisiana's Chloe Riassetto threw her third complete game of the season. List and
Alissa Humphrey combined for 5.2 innings of work out of the bullpen, allowing three earned runs and striking out a batter.

How It Happened
- Louisiana brought home four runs in the bottom of the first on a two-RBI single from Brooke Ellestad and a two-run double from Maddie Hayden.
- A pair of UL errors in the top of the second allowed the Dukes to score their first run of the contest and cut the deficit to 4-1.
- List worked around a UL baserunner on third to keep UL off the board in the bottom of the second.
- Hayden doubled in the bottom of the third, but a groundout and popup kept the Cajuns off the board.
- List picked up her first strikeout in the bottom of the fourth and held the Cajuns off the board to keep the score at 4-1.
- An RBI single from Ellestad and a two-run home run from Victoria Valdez extended UL's lead to 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
- Rogers and List singled in the top of the seventh, but a strikeout ended the game.
Game Notes
- Reed Butler finished 0-for-3, snapping her 29-game on-base streak and 15-game hitting streak.
- Louisiana won its 85th consecutive conference series dating back to 2013.
- JMU tied its season low in hits, finishing with three.
