Miranda Stanhope was named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Track & Field/XC Team, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.

To be eligible, student-athletes must possess at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average, and graduate students must have at least a 3.50 in both degree programs. Additionally, track & field/cross country athletes must rank in the top 50 in the region in a single event (XC, indoor or outdoor) individually, not in a relay performance during indoor or outdoor track.

Stanhope wrapped up her final collegiate season with a 3.981 cumulative GPA, finishing with a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring term. She earned Sun Belt All-Conference First Team honors after capturing the 10,000-meter crown (35:24.43) at the league meet.

The health sciences major had an exceptional cross country season, finishing seventh at the Sun Belt title race (5K – 17:34.9) and 33rd at the NCAA Southeast Regional race (6K – 20:47.5). In the winter, Stanhope posted podium finishes in the 3,000-meter (2nd – 9:30.99) and 5,000-meter (3rd – 16:42.89) for All-Conference Second Team Status. The spring saw the senior set the program record in the 10,000 meters, clocking in at 33:43.48 at the Penn Relays.

Stanhope leaves JMU with school records in the 5K (17:05.9), 6K (20:12.4), indoor 3,000m (9:23.40), indoor 5,000m (16:14.31), and 10,000m (33:43.48).
