CHARLOTTE, N.C. – James Madison women's tennis produced solid results at the 49er Invitational, capturing 19 total wins and winning each hidden-dual bout at the 49er Invitational (Sept. 27-29) at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

The Dukes faced off against ETSU, host Charlotte and a hybrid team made up of athletes from VCU, Kentucky and Davidson.

The Dukes turned in a 19-10 overall record, which included a 13-6 mark in singles play and a 6-4 doubles tally. Had the matches been played in true dual-match format, JMU would have won each match 4-3 (vs. ETSU), 6-1 (vs. Hybrid team) and 5-2 (vs. Charlotte).

Sophie Williams and
Daria Munteanu remained unbeaten in singles play to start the fall, as both Dukes went 3-0 individually. Williams tacked on a 2-1 doubles mark to finish the weekend with a team-best five total wins.
Ines Oliveira and
Mia Saveljic each won four matches, going 2-1 in both singles and doubles.
Elena Kraleva also went 2-1 in singles, while
Reka Matko turned in a 2-1 doubles ledger.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Singles Play
- Inclement weather only allowed for one round of singles play Friday, as JMU won three of seven matches against ETSU, taking courts three, four and five.
- Saveljic rallied past Jana Rovira, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, while Williams held off Alessandra Caceres in three sets, at 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. Munteanu also took down Ralitsa Alexandrova, 6-3, 6-1.
- On Saturday, the Dukes dominated play against the hybrid squad, which featured a pair of wins each versus VCU and Kentucky.
- Kraleva owned the top court, downing Mariam Ibrahim of VCU, 7-6, 6-4. Oliveira followed suit on court two, defeating Davidson's Daniela Porges, 7-6, 6-1.
- On court three, Saveljic beat Davidson's Savanna Kollock, 6-0, 6-4. Courts four and five produced wins against Kentucky foes, as Munteanu rallied to beat Asuncion Jadue, 6-7, 6-2, 1-0, and Williams conceded just four games, at 6-2, 6-2, with Ellie Myers. Corinna Rietmann closed things out with a 6-3, 6-3 win over VCU's Amelie Jewelwics.
- Sunday's showdown against host Charlotte had wins coming from courts one, two, four and five.
- Kraleva claimed a 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 win against Sara Suchankova, while Olivera won a three setter of her own, taking down Lucia Arana, 6-1, 5-7, 7-5.
- On court four, Williams won 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 versus Amira Badawi, while Munteanu cruised past Shona Nakano, 6-0, 6-4.

Doubles Play
- Doubles play began Saturday, as JMU took three of four from ETSU, while beating Davidson in the hybrid team bout.
- Kraleva and Williams earned a 6-4 win over ETSU's Caceres and Daniela Rivera. After Matio and Saveljic won 6-2 against Julia Millan and Ksenija Rage, the tandem of Hayley Glen and Rietmann beat the team of ETSU's Alexandrova and Charlotte's Prisca Abbas, 6-4.
- Later that day, Oliveira and Saveljic breezed by Davidson's Kollock and Porges, 6-2.
- Rounding out doubles Sunday, JMU won two of three, as Oliveira and Williams defeated Suchankova and Ni Xi, 6-3, while Matko and Munteanu cruised to a 6-2 triumph in their match with Abbas and Paula Dougherty.

JMU is in action for the third weekend in a row next week, as it travels to Charlottesville, Va., for the Wahoowa Invitational, Oct. 4-6, at the Boar's Head Resort.
