BLACKSBURG, Va. – James Madison track & field started the New Year strong with three top-three finishes and one top-three program mark on day one of the Virginia Tech inside Rector Fieldhouse.

Erica Moolman recorded a career-best leap of 3.71m (12-2), good for second in program history. On the track,
Sidney Walters highlighted the first day of competition for the Dukes with a victory in the unseeded mile, crossing the finish line in 5:08.26.

How It Happened
- Elizabeth Rainey ran a PR of 5:36.41 in the unseeded mile for sixth.
- Alayna Gifford earned silver in the unseeded 1,000-meter competition in 2:57.82, while Merrick Mock rounded out the top five in 3:00.48.
- In the unseeded 3,000-meter race, Kylie Brooks finished sixth in 10:22.97 in her collegiate track debut.
- Jordyn Henderson picked up bronze in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.53.
- In the field, Ryann Bennett produced a season-best weight throw of 14.06m (46-1.5).
