Lackey Named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison women's soccer forward Ginny Lackey has been named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The recognition marks Lackey's first weekly conference award of the season, and the third of her career. The sophomore becomes the third Duke to be recognized this season.
The Dukes extended their unbeaten streak to five with a 3-2 victory over Louisiana, in which Lackey tallied all three of JMU's goals. The Bolton, Manchester native's hat trick marks the first by a James Madison player since 2012.
Lackey ranks first in points (25), tied for first in goals (10) and tied for third in assists (5) in the Sun Belt so far this season. Friday's performance makes her the first Duke since 2015-16 to record back-to-back seasons of both at least 10 goals and 25 points. Additionally, Lackey become the first player from the Sun Belt to record back-to-back 10 goal seasons since 2014-15.
The Dukes will take the pitch at Sentara Park one last time this season as they play host to South Alabama on Friday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
