JMU Soccer Programs Honored As 2025-26 College Team Academic Award Winners

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – James Madison men's and women's soccer have been named recipients of the College Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year, United Soccer Coaches announced on Friday.

The award is given to all teams with a composite GPA of at least 3.0 for the entire academic year. A total of 777 soccer teams across both men's and women's programs received the award this year, up from the 697 programs honored in 2024-25. This marks the second straight year that both the men's and women's programs have both been honored.

The men's team achieved a GPA of 3.07 for the 2025-26 school year. In the fall, nine Dukes were named JMU Athletic Director Scholar Athletes, with four Dukes being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

The women's program earned a 3.47 GPA for the 2025-26 academic year. The fall saw 13 women's soccer athletes named JMU AD Scholar Athletes, with five receiving nods to the CSC Academic All-District Team. Of the seven student-athletes who earned 4.0 GPA's for the entire 2025-26-year, three represented women's soccer.

The men's soccer Dukes will open their season against Rider at Sentara Park on Thursday, Aug. 20 for the first game of the Fairfield by Marriott Invitational. Women's soccer's season opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 14 against NC State at Sentara Park. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
