HARRISONBURG, Va. –
Holly Mpassy highlighted the final day of the Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championship for James Madison by helping earn 9.75 points across three events for the Dukes on Saturday evening at Sentara Park.
Â
Receiving the final handoff in seventh in the 4x400-meter relay, Mpassy powered her way to third with a 52.41 split – the fastest by any anchor leg in the competition – to finish in a season-best 3:42.53 with

Â
Earlier in the day, Mpassy ran the second leg of the 4x100-meter relay with
Kaia Putman,

Quoting Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Delethea Quarles:
"The Sun Belt Championship was absolutely amazing. The competition was at its best. Our seniors lead our team with grace and grit – all scoring for the Dukes. Holly [
Mpassy] did an incredible job placing second in the 400-meter dash with another school record and moving our relay to third with a split of 52.41. Without counting prelims, this weekend's action at Sentara Park track facility provided over 150 personal-best performances in addition to numerous Sun Belt Conference and meet records. Moreover, the championship meet featured many national qualifiers. I am ecstatic about the amazing and excellent job
Rick Reardon and the entire
facilities staff did. Their teamwork was just that, they operated on one accord. There was nothing they missed, and all matters were handled with urgency. I could not have asked for a better championship. Go Dukes!"
