Brooke Potter wasn't enough to put away the Chanticleers as JMU Women's Soccer fought to a 1-1 draw with Coastal Carolina on Saturday night to open Sun Belt play.
The Dukes move to 4-2-3 on the season, opening their conference slate 0-0-1. The Chanticleers slide to 3-3-1, beginning SBC play 0-0-1. Potter led the JMU offense, netting her second goal of the season and sending a pair of shots.
Audrey Orrock,
Jeanette Fieldsend, and
Ginny Lackey contributed on the offensive end, each taking two shots. Dolcie O'Connor scored Coastal's lone goal, adding two shots.
Sofia DeCerb received the start in goal for the Dukes, playing all 90 minutes and making a save.
Quote from Head Coach Joshua Walters, Sr.
"Disappointed in the result tonight. We weren't composed enough in the second half to turn attacks into real chances. We will head back into training to help grow this area of our game and figure out which players can create what we need in the final third. Credit to Coastal, who fought their tails off to keep us out of their end in the second half."
