RICHMOND, Va. – Incoming James Madison women's tennis freshman Sierra Vagi captured the women's single title at the Mercedes-Benz Greater Richmond Open on Friday evening at Salisbury Country Club.
Vagi, who was seed number one in the women's division, went 3-0 on her way to claiming the title, earning straight set victories in every match.
In total, she conceded just eight total games to her three respective opponents, which included five in the final.
She opened play in the quarterfinals with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Rachel Feinstein. She followed that up with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Susanna Whitehead in the semifinal.
Those triumphs set up a championship bout featuring a future Duke and former Duke, as Vagi faced off with fellow Richmond native
Hayley Glen, who played at JMU between 2022 and 2025. In the final, Vagi defeated Glen by scores of 6-2, 6-3.
