PHOENIX, Ariz. – Four James Madison women's tennis student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes while the program earned All-Academic Team recognition for the 2025-26 academic year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced.
Reeling in Scholar-Athlete honors were freshman
Ariel Avidan, senior
Reka Matko, senior
Daria Munteanu and sophomore
Mia Saveljic.
To be eligible for the awards, teams must hold a collective year grade-point average of at least 3.2, while individuals garnering a 3.5 GPA or higher for the year earn Scholar-Athlete recognition.
As a team, JMU registered a 3.527 GPA over the fall and spring semesters.
JMU has now produced at least one Scholar-Athlete in 18 straight years, and the team collected All-Academic Team status for the 14th consecutive year.
This is the third straight year Munteanu was named a Scholar-Athlete while Avidan, Matko and Saveljic took home the accolade for the first time.
