- JMU Athletic Director Scholar Athlete
- Made JMU career debut with one minute at No. 3 Kansas State
- First career point on a free throw at Radford. Added a three-pointer in final seconds to go with first rebound and first steal in four minutes
- Connected on only field-goal attempt in win over Towson
Before JMU:
- Played for John Costello at Broad Run High School
- Also played for Tom Gadson with Virginia Elite AAU
- Broad Run was Dulles District Tournament Champions 2009
- Won Myrtle Beach Tournament Championship in 2009 with Virginia Elite
- All-Region junior and senior years and Regional Player of the Year as a senior
- All-District junior and senior years and Dulles District Player of the Year as a senior
- All-State as a senior, averaging 22.0 points per game, surpassing 1,000 career points and leading Broad Run to a 21-4 record
- As a junior averaged 17.0 points per game while Broad Run went 22-4
- As a sophomore averaged 8.0 points as the Spartans went 6-17
- Averaged 23.0 points per game on undefeated (18-0) freshman team
- Also played freshman football with Broad Run going 6-4

Why did you choose JMU?
You never hear anything bad about JMU and so I decided that this could be a place I see myself at.
What is your favorite thing about JMU?
The people.
What's your major? Why did you choose it?
Biology is my major because I plan on going to medical school.
What's your favorite JMU memory outside of basketball?
Way too many memories to only pick one and I have only been here for a month.
What are your plans after JMU?
Medical school.
What are your hobbies outside of basketball?
Hanging out with friends, playing FIFA on X-BOX, and sleeping.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
My high school coach, John Costello, who helped me make the decision to play in college, which is why I am now a student here.
Who influenced you to get involved in basketball?
My dad.
What are your goals this season? Both individually and as a team.
Win the conference and do anything I possibly can to make my team better.
Most embarrassing moment during a game?
This kid went up for a lay-up, he made it and on the way down his foot got caught in my drawstring and pulled my pants down.
Most memorable basketball moment? (JMU, AAU, HS, etc.)
Game winning shot to go into the district championship game as time expired my junior year. Put us from down one to up one.
What team do you look forward to playing more than any other?
At George Mason because all of my family and friends from Northern Virginia are going to come to that game.
What's the best advice you've ever received?
It is your life. Do whatever will make you happy.
What advice do you have for someone aspiring to play college basketball?
Be the best dribbler you can be.
What's your pre-game ritual?
I eat one snickers bar.
Best player you've ever played against?
The player that had the best game when I played them was Wally Judge of Kansas State. He scored 45 points.
What do you enjoy most about playing your position?
I love shooting the ball!
When you leave JMU basketball, how do you want to be remembered?
As Kevin McGaughey. I just want to be me.
Who do you consider your biggest supporter at games?
My dad.
What are you going to miss most about JMU when you graduate?
The college lifestyle.
