GREENSBORO, N.C., Sept. 10, 2005 – UNC Greensboro Senior defender Tyson Davis' goal with 2:20 left in overtime gave UNC Greensboro the 1-0 victory of the Dukes Saturday evening in Greensboro.
Davis received a pass from Deven Beachum and scored on a 25 yard shot that made it past a James Madison defender and into the goal.
The goal came after a long defensive stand where both teams combined for only eleven shots in regulation. James Madison had the shot advantage in the first half before UNC Greensboro flipped the script and took the advantage in the second and continued into overtime.
The Spartans improved to 3-2 with their second straight shutout. The Dukes fell to 3-2 after their second straight 1-0 loss.
