LYNCHBURG, Va., October 16, 2007 -- The JMU men's golf team shot a final round 316 on Tuesday to finish in seventh at the Frank Landrey Invitational.
The Dukes entered the day in fifth but lost ground to Presbyterian (302-301-294--897) and Longwood (303-299-299--901).
Junior Tim Driver (Harrisonburg, Va./Spotswood) finished in a tie for 10th after shooting a 77 on Tuesday. It was the third time this season Driver has finished in the top-10. Fellow junior Fielding Brewbaker (Salem, Va./Salem) shot rounds of 74,75 and 81 to finish with a score of 230. Brewbaker tied for 36th.
After the two juniors, the Dukes used four freshmen in tournament. Brian Stele (Spotsylvania, Va./James Monroe) and Matt Pesci (Langhorn, Pa./Neshaminy) tied for 39th after each shot 79s on Tuesday for a total of 231. Matt Neely (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) finished of the Dukes team scoring with a tie for 54th (80-78-81--239).
Ross Johnston (Ballyclare, Northern Ireland/RBAI) participated as an individual, shooting 84-81-80--245 to finished tied for 60th.
Radford (290-287-283--860) won the tournament followed by Richmond (285-293-292--870), Virginia Commonwealth (292-295-287--874), USC-Upstate (306-279-300--885) and Presbyterian rounding out the top-
