CENTREVILLE, Va., Oct. 4, 2008 -- James Madison's "B" cross country team placed ninth at the George Mason Invitational Saturday morning at Bull Run Park.
Virginia won the 16-team meet with 30 points, Columbia was second with 41 and Maryland third with 92. JMU finished with 256 points.
Virginia senior Lauretta Dezubay won the 6,000-meter race in 21 minutes, 29 seconds.
JMU was led by sophomore Mariah Hagaone (Mt. Solon, Va./Buffalo Gap), who finished 42nd in 23:46. Junior Emily Hellmuth (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) placed 46th in 23:56, and junior Amber Lussier (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) finished 52nd in 24:11.
