WALLACE, N.C., April 8, 2008 -- The James Madison women's golf team shot a season-low round of 300 on Tuesday and combined that with a third-round 312 to finish 13th at the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational in Wallace, N.C., Tuesday. The Dukes combined their two rounds on Tuesday with a 318 on Monday for a three-round total of 930.
Sophomore Mary Chamberlain (Dennis, Mass./Suffield Academy) finished tied for 22nd after carding two 77's on Tuesday. She shot a 74 on Monday and finished with a 228. Freshman Laura Mesa (Manizales, Columbia/Colegio Granadino) also finished in the top 50, finishing tied for 41st. She shot rounds of 75 and 76 on Tuesday to go with an 82 on Monday for a total of 233.
Senior Ashley Mantha (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) finished tied for 57th after shooting 82-74-79--235 and freshman Kelly Lynch (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) shot 84-74-80--238 to finish tied for 66th. The Severna Park native is the two-time reigning Colonial Athletic Association Golfer of the Week.
The Dukes five man team was rounded out by freshman Catrin Gunnarsson (Bankeryd, Sweeden/Sanda Gymnasiet). She shot rounds of 80, 80, and 81 for a total of 241.
North Carolina State University beat out 15 other teams for the the team championship, moving up from fourth place with rounds of 300 and a tournament-low 291 on Tuesday. They finished with a total of 896, beating UNC Greensboro (303-294-300--897) by one stroke. UNC Wilmington (305-295-300--900) finished third, Campbell (296-302-304--902) took fourth with East Carolina (301-309-296--906) and East
