MONROEVILLE, Pa., Jan. 21, 2011 - The James Madison men's tennis team won its first two dual matches of the spring season on Friday afternoon with a sweep of Duquesne and Robert Morris at The Club Sport and Health.
JMU (2-1) defeated the host Duquesne 6-1, before taking a 7-0 victory against Robert Morris.

The Dukes claimed the doubles point and the early 1-0 lead after taking two of three doubles matches.
At No. 1 doubles, junior Bertrand Moulin (Lyon, France/Aux Lazaristes (Wayne State)) and sophomore Florent Sentenac (Borderes, France/Lycee Theophile Gautier (Auburn Montgomery)) defeated Steve Herchko and Max Rubin, 8-6. After dropping a close match at No. 2 doubles, the Dukes secured the doubles point with an 8-5 victory for junior Tommi Nissinen (Oulu, Finland/Kastellin Lukio) and senior Yaroslav Voznenko (Kherson, Ukraine/Kherson Technical) against Matt Smith and Aram Abgaryan.
JMU easily picked up the win against the host Duquesne after winning five of six singles matches, all in straight sets.
Moulin took a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Abgaryan at No. 1 singles and sophomore Greg Vladimirsky (Coral Springs, Fla./Broward Virtual) cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles versus Pete Carpenter.
At No. 3 singles, Sentenac defeated Rubin, 7-5, 6-1, and sophomore Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar (UT-Chattanooga)) won 6-2, 6-3 against Herchko at No. 4 singles.
Nissinen rounded out the Dukes' scoring with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Smith at No. 5 singles, but Duquesne got on the board after Kyle O'Leary took down Voznenko in a three-set tie-break, 6-2, 4-6, 10-3 at No. 6 singles.

The Dukes won all three doubles matches to take the point and a 1-0 lead against RMU.
The team of Moulin and King took an 8-1 win against Andre Coiro and Aaron Haas at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Nissinen and Sentenac defeated Igor Neves and Jose Limon, 8-3, and Vladimirsky and Pool cruised 8-1 versus Ricardo Horlle and Tarun Kishan at No. 3 doubles.
JMU won all six singles matches in straight sets to complete the sweep of the Colonials and give the Dukes their second team win of the day.
At No. 1 singles, Moulin rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win against Coiro. Vladimirsky also conceded just two games in his 6-1, 6-1 victory over Neves at No. 2 singles. Pool defeated Horlle 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Nissinen took a 6-4, 6-3 win against Limon at No. 4 singles.
King picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles against Liran Braun and junior Jovan Milic (Belgrade, Serbia/Belgrade Sports School) rounded out the scoring with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Kishan at No. 6 singles.
