PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The James Madison women's golf team finished eighth (308-303-297 – 907) to close out the Golfweek Program Challenge on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Combined with the men's squad, Madison finished sixth out of 18 programs with a cumulative card of 32-over par.
After rising four spots in Monday's second round to eighth, the Dukes maintained that spot by posting their best round of the tournament with a 13-over park total of 297 strokes. Campbell clinched first place in the tournament with 869 total strokes.
Sophomore
Maddisen Cox finished 6-over par to tie for ninth (71-76-72 – 219) out of a field of 90 golfers. Senior
Rachel Walker (79-76-76 – 231) and sophomore
Gabrielle Weiss (77-77-76 – 231) shot 18-over par and tied for 41st. Freshman
Carley Cox (81, 81, 73 – 235) shot a tournament best in the third day of competition tying for 54th along with sophomore
Laura Gomez-Ruiz (85-72-78 – 235) at 22-over par.

Sarah Sargent said. " We improved each round and Maddisen's first division I college tournament brought her success with a top-10 finish. We have some work to do to keep moving in the right direction, but I look forward to how we will grow as a team."
