ELKTON, Md. – James Madison women's tennis opened Colonial Athletic Association with a 5-2 win at Delaware on Saturday.
The Dukes (7-2, 1-0) took a 1-0 advantage into singles after doubles victories at No. 1 by senior Timea Guibe and junior Kimmy Herrock and at No. 3 by sophomore Emma Petersen and senior Rebecca Harris. The Blue Hens tied the match at 1-all and 2-all before Petersen and Herrock sealed the victory with singles victories at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Petersen, Herrock and Harris each went 2-0 on Saturday.
Freshman Jona Rokakept momentum in the Dukes favor early, putting them back up by one (2-1) with a two-set win over Sarah Hall at No. 5 singles (7-6(2), 6-2). Harris capped the team victory with a two-set triumph over Amanda Studnicki at No. 6 singles (7-5, 6-1).RESULTS Doubles (2, 1, 3*)
