KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Senior
Poom Pattaropong fired a 2-under 69 on Sunday to catapult himself into the top 10 and lead the James Madison men's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Irish Creek Collegiate, hosted by Davidson and Charlotte at the par-71, 7,099-yard Club at Irish Creek.

Pattaropong used five birdies to post his 69, just one shot off his second-round pace, climbing 15 spots at the 93-player tournament to finish tied for 10th at 2-under 211 (74-68-69), his second top-10 performance in as many weeks.

The Dukes fired a 4-over 288 on the tournament's final day, closing their weekend in sole possession of seventh at the 16-team event. Each of the top five teams are ranked in the top 50 nationally, with JMU finishing just a stroke behind sixth-place UNCG.

Senior
Ryan Cole paced the Dukes on the weekend, picking up his fifth top-five finish of the season after his final-round 71 sealed a tie for fourth at 5-under 208 (69-68-71). Cole now has 21 par-or-better rounds, just four shy of his own program record, through just 31 total rounds in 2016-17.

Matt Cowgill, sophomore
Shota Ozaki and freshman
Walker Cress closed out the JMU team scoring with each player shooting a 3-over 74. Cowgill closed his tournament in a tie for 34th at 3-over 216 (74-68-74), while Ozaki (76-70-74) and Cress (75-71-74) tied for 54th at 7-over 220.

Jack Floydd and freshman
Quinn Tardif competed as individuals on the weekend, with Floydd capping his tournament with an even-par 71 to tie for 47th at 219 (72-76-71) and Tardiff tying for 74th at 225 (75-77-73) after carding a 2-over 73 in his final round.

PAR-3 EXCELLENCE
James Madison played the course's par-3 holes better than any team in the field at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, posting a cumulative score of just +1 across the course's four shortest holes, good for a 3.02 average and a full six strokes better than Florida State and North Florida, tied for second at +7.

Poom Pattaropong led the effort for the Dukes, with Cole playing his 12 par-3s in -2 (2.83), just one stroke behind the best performance in the field, and Pattaropong just behind him at -1 (2.92).
