KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The James Madison men's golf team closed out its regular-season play on Sunday afternoon, taking home eighth place at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by Charlotte at the par-71, 7,099-yard course at The Club at Irish Creek.

The Dukes carded a 16-over 300 in the windy final round, closing the 15-team event just one stroke behind seventh-place Indiana in a field containing four schools ranked inside the national top 35.

Freshman
Ignacio Montero led the way for the Dukes on the final day of competition, carding a 2-over 73 that included five birdies and lifted him a spot on the leaderboard to finish tied for 36th among the field of 88 players.

Juniors
Ben Tucker and
Shota Ozaki each carded rounds of 4-over 75 on the day to close out the tournament in ties for 18th and 51st, respectively. The finish marked Tucker's fourth top-20 finish in the last five tournaments.

Senior
Matt Cowgill (t-39; +10) and sophomore
Walker Cress (t-45; +12) closed out the JMU scoring on Sunday afternoon, posting rounds of 6-over 77.

Playing as individuals, senior
Jack Floydd and freshman
Worathon Zeng each carded rounds of 81 to finish in ties for 67th and 75th, respectively.
