ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The James Madison men's tennis team competed against George Mason on Friday afternoon, winning 7-0 at Belle Haven CC for its first road win of the spring season.

The Dukes improved to 4-3 on the year, while the Patriots dropped to 1-3. JMU notched three doubles wins and six singles wins in the victory to earn its second 7-0 sweep of the season.

In doubles play, senior
Paul Mendoza and freshman
Holden Koons defeated Jakob Nielsen and Faisal Alrebdi, 6-3 to open the match on court one. Junior
Alvaro Arce and senior
Josh Raymundo earned a win on court two, as the duo took down Rithik Sardana and Ryan Charles, 7-6 (4). The tandem of junior
Gonzalo Adis and sophomore
William Karpinski wrapped up doubles play with a 7-6 (2) victory over Edward Ayers and Rishab Sardana.

In singles play, JMU won four of its six matches in three sets, which included three in come-from-behind fashion. Arce earned the first singles victory for the Dukes, winning at #2 against Nielsen, 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore
Stefan Petrovic took down Rishab Sardana 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-3 at #4 to make it a 3-0 lead. The Dukes clinched the match at #1 singles after Mendoza rallied against Ayers, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4).

Koons extended his singles victory streak four, as he claimed a 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-3 triumph on court three against Rithik Sardana. Senior
Damon Roberts forced a third set against Alrebdi on court five, winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Adis closed out the match for JMU with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) over Herman Jentoft at the #6 spot.
