FAIRFAX, Va. – James Madison men's tennis produced its third consecutive victory with a 6-1 win at George Mason on Sunday afternoon at the GMU Tennis Courts.
The Dukes improved to 4-3 on the year, while the Patriots evened their record at 3-3.
JMU won all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches to improve to 32-7 all-time against Mason.
In doubles, redshirt sophomore
William Karpinski and freshman
Oscar Hernandez set the tone early with a 6-3 win on court three over Momin Khan and Luke Maxwell.
The Dukes secured the doubles point shortly after on court two when redshirt juniors
Alvaro Arce and
Gonzalo Adis dispatched Rishab Sardana and Erick Rivas by a 6-4 score.
JMU closed doubles play with a 7-5 victory on court one by redshirt freshman

Paul Mendoza against Rithik Sardana and Ryan Charles.
Hernandez kept his strong rookie season going, with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory on court three versus Charles. Mendoza extended the lead to 3-0 with his 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Khan on court four.
The Dukes clinched the match on court one with Koons' 6-2, 6-4 win against Rithik Sardana.
Karpinski made it 5-0 with his 6-4, 6-4 victory on court five against Rivas, and after Mason got its lone point on court two, freshman
Mario Pena closed the day with a 6-3, 7-6(5) win versus Hayden Postin.
MATCH NOTES
- Oscar Hernandez extended his singles win streak to five, playing both matches this week at the #3 position.
- Holden Koons also won for the fourth straight time in singles play.
- JMU swept doubles this week, as all three tandems playing today have won three doubles matches in a row.
