STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The James Madison men's golf team closed out their final regular-season tournament of the spring on Sunday afternoon, taking ninth place at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State at its par-71, 7,202-yard Blue Course.
The Dukes posted their best round of the weekend on the final day, carding a 291 (+7) on Sunday to hold their spot on the 14-team leaderboard, nearly running down eighth-place Dayton, which finished just two shots ahead.
Sophomore
Ignacio De Pineda and freshman
Neal Shipley lead the way for JMU on the final day with rounds of 72 (+1) that lifted them into ties for 25th and 56th, respectively. Senior
Walker Cress carded a two-over 73 to join Shipley in 56th, while freshman
Alexandre D'Aurelle de Paladines tied for 47th at 224 (+11).
Sophomore
George Heath closed out the JMU scoring at 75 (+4), capturing sole possession of 11th out of 75 players to lead the Dukes on the leaderboard.
UP NEXT
The Dukes have closed the regular season portion of their 2020-21 spring slate and will travel to Dataw Island Golf Club in St. Helena Island, S.C. on April 25-27 to compete in the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship.
